What Is A Search Engine Optimization Consultant

A search engine optimization consultant is someone who writes text that is used to help prioritize one website over another in a keyword search.  For example, if a merchant wants to be sure that his web page comes up higher in the rankings than his competitor’s, they will want to be sure that the text on the website reflects the algorithm those searches use for ranking the sites.  If that text meets those requirements, the merchant's site will likely post ahead of their competitors.  The person responsible for creating this text would be a search engine optimization consultant.  They will work directly with the business owner and their web page, or they will be a contract person that works for the SEO company.

As stated above, the writer can either work directly with a website, or be employed by or contract with a middleman company.  If the writer works directly with a website, the company’s owner or manager can instruct the writer in the details of the text.  It is in the owner’s best interest to be up to date regarding the current state of the algorithm, and how it applies to the web text.  For a lot of websites, the company’s owners might decide that staying up to date on any changes is too time consuming or labor intensive for them and that they would rather hire a company to do this for them.  This middleman company is something that has a business relationship with both the search engine optimization consultant and the website’s owner.

A typical assignment for the writer includes a keyword, or list of keywords, which they must create the article and blog for.  Whatever the keyword or key phrasing is, they must be put into the text a certain amount of times.  The article and blog have to have a certain word count for it to be a successful article.  The keyword “saturation” has to do with the ratio of the keyword, or the key phrase, to the total amount of words typed in the article.  If a keyword is used too many or too few times within the article and blog, it will not have the saturation it needs in order to meet the requirements of the algorithm.

There are other things for the search engine optimization consultant to keep in mind in addition to how many uses of the keyword there are and the total word count.  It is often expected that the writer will use ancillary words within the text.  This means including other related words that can be used on the website where the article is posted.  These other words are key words or key phrases that have been turned into an article and blog as well.  They then will be turned into links, when posted into the site, so that the viewer can do further research on the subject or look at other 'similar' products.  This is a great tool for businesses to use because it will refer a reader to another article on the same site and keep them from searching elsewhere for the products or services.

Next, the writer must remember to avoid using first and second person in the articles.  They must take care to write clearly and understandably.  There are often words that must be avoided or limited due to potentially affecting the algorithm.  If the search engine optimization consultant can follow all of these guidelines, then there is a good chance that it will contain a sufficiency in quality and quantity.
